If you know the trilogy that begins with this comedy, you know it’s a show you MUST do! Come out and join the fun.
Picture a dining room table around which are gathered six extended family members. It’s the weekend. And it’s the weekend when Norman, in a loveless marriage with Annie’s sister, has convinced Annie that she deserves a romantic weekend away with him. What could go wrong? Well, the arrival of Annie’s brother, Reg, and his ultra conservative wife, Sarah, sure doesn’t help. Things become complicated when Ruth calls Norman’s wife, Ruth, to tell her what’s up and to insist that she come to the house immediately. Add in the arrival of Tom, the neighbourhood vet who likes Annie but who isn’t very socially competent and, well . . . . you simply have to laugh at the hilarious antics that ensue.
Annie – 25 to 38, a potential “old maid” who cares for her family’s invalid mother but who wants more out of her dull life
Sarah – 28 to 40, married to Annie’s older brother Reg, a woman who must control everything and everyone even though she is actually very insecure and vulnerable
Reg – 32 to 45, the eldest child and only son in a female controlled family, a man ruled by his wife Sarah,
Tom – 28 to 40, the neighbourhood veterinarian who likes Annie, is more at ease with animals than with people
Ruth – 30 to 40, a successful, vain, snob of a business woman married to Norman in name only
Norman – 30 to 45, a lovable assistant librarian who is rather a loser, desperate to love and be loved but someone who is both endearing and annoying to the women and men in his life
